As many of you already know, during my 35 years or so living in California, I made over 40 round-trip drives across the USA to visit friends and relatives in Massachusetts, Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida. One of the most freeing experiences for me is to be out on the open road, listening to my music and stopping wherever I choose to sample the local cuisine, take a hike or a swim, or visit some local attractions.
NBC Channel 10, WJAR TV in Providence, Rhode Island has been featuring me as their Travel Expert on their afternoon magazine program, Studio 10. Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a number of segments leading the audience on a “virtual road trip” across the USA. Each segment features anywhere from one to three states.
I decided to post all of the links that aired into one post and to include some of the photos and details about places I mentioned in each segment. (Just click on each of the photos to see the captions and get more information.)
You can click on the links highlighted below to watch each segment from the Studio 10 interviews and then have a look at the photos related to that segment. So, let’s hit the road! Buckle up!
Road Trips 101: Planning Your Trip

New segments will air over the next few weeks and will take us west through Alabama, Mississippi & Tennessee, and Oklahoma, Texas, & New Mexico Colorado. Further down the road we’ll visit many of the National Parks of the American west, and ultimately hit the west coast… so, stay tuned! And thanks to WJAR – TV and all the “Studio 10” staff who have made me feel like one of the family!
